What is a Parent Teacher Organization?
A parent teacher organization (PTO) gives parents and teachers the opportunity to work together to supplement and enrich the educational experience for our kids.
What's the difference between a PTA and a PTO?
PTA is a local parent group that is normally affiliated with the State's and the National PTA organization. PTO is an independent parent group, and it is considered to be a Non-PTA group that works independently, and is not affiliated to any organization.
What is the purpose of the PTO at Spectrum?
The PTO is concerned primarily with providing experiences for our children they may not otherwise have, connecting teachers and parents so that they can better discuss the nature of their child’s education, connect parents to allow for more opportunities to support each other, the benefits and challenges facing the school, and how volunteer efforts or any level of involvement might benefit all stakeholders in a dramatic, dynamic way.
What can I do?
Check out the Committees tab located at the top of the page. This will give a beautiful breakdown of everything the PTO is currently prepping for. Under the More... tab, you will find our meeting information. Please come! We'd love to chat about where we're at on planning and hear what you'd like to see, add, or change!
